With the developments in technology and the increased use of netbooks, smartphones and ipads we've been finding that Calico UK customers are finding some of our mail services a bit restrictive in terms of size. Emails are becoming larger as people are sending larger attachments. Also more and more people wish to leave mail on the server using IMAP mail access methods rather than POP access so that the mail is accessible wherever you may be. We've listened to what you want and developed a new 1GB mail service called Ultracali Mail. We'll be incorporating this into our web hosting packages in the future, including adding new packages on our website, but we wanted to make this available to existing customers first.

On 26th May, the law regarding the use of non-essential cookies on your website changes. In future users of your websites will have to opt-in to allow the use of cookies, so it's important that if you use cookies on your website that you update the site accordingly. Cookies tend to be used on website for shopping cart systems, personalised site preferencesand for tracking statistical information about visitors - not all websites use them. If you have someone who maintains your website on your behalf, then this is something to check with them.

We have taking the decision at Calico UK to move completely to a paperless billing system. Up until now we've issued invoices and reminders via email and then a final notice via the post. Final notices will now be issued via email also. Please can you ensure you have the best email address to contact you on, associated with your account. Calico UK Basicali web services will now be running on Windows 2008 (Microsoft's most up to date web server). Any existing services will continue on 2003, but any new services requested will now be added on 2008 servers.

We have just had word from Nominet, that as of May 2012, it will now be possible to have flexible renewal options on .uk ending domains. Currently only 2 year periods are available, but from may that will change to match other domains with 1 to 10 year registrations possible. We'll remind you nearer the time, should any of you wish to extend your domain registrations.
