High speed "always on" Internet connectivity
The Calico Broadband service is a high speed connectivity service aimed at individuals and businesses.

Calico Broadband comprises a range of broadband connection speeds and contention ratios from basic 512kb/s (up to 10 times faster than standard 56K dial-up) with 50:1 contention ratio, to the top of the range 2048kb/s Plus service (up to 40 times faster than a standard 56K dial-up) with a lower 20:1 contention ratio. You can upgrade your package at any time to a higher service, and you can move to Calico Broadband from other broadband providers. For further details, see below or see the FAQs:

Download speeds and Contention Ratios
  • 512kb/s for low volume use; 2048kb/s for high volume home or business use
  • Contention ratios indicate maximum bandwidth sharing
  • 50:1 indicates sharing the bandwith between a maximum of 50 users. Typically this number is much less. 20:1 indicates sharing the bandwith between a maximum of 20 users. Again, typically this number is much less. The lower ratio means a greater chance of achieving a consistently high download speed
The majority of UK home and business lines are suitable for connection to broadband, but you should check before ordering. If you already have broadband and are moving from another provider, you will have to contact your current provider and ask for a MAC code which you then need to supply to us.
